Meet Your Coaching Team

DSA Directors: Robbie & Tammy Krul

Leading our coaching team are directors, Robbie and Tammy Krul.  The couple began Dutch Soccer Academy in 1997 and they have fifteen years coaching experience developing students throughout the country.

Robbie has received his soccer coaching credentials through the prestigious KNVB soccer association in Holland and is capable of teaching a wide variety of ages and development stages.   Robbie is also an accomplished soccer player being selected to play for the first team of the highest amateur division in the Netherlands at the young age of 17.  His professional career in the Netherlands took a detour when he was recruited to play for Franklin Pierce College in the United States.  He only intended to stay for one season as an adventure in America, but it was there that he met his future wife-to-be, Tammy Thibodeau, and decided to remain in the USA a while longer.  While at Franklin Pierce College, he received many awards and was recognized as being one of the top forwards in the country.

Maine native Tammy Thibodeau, played soccer for Franklin Pierce College in Rindge, New Hampshire.  While there, her team captured two NCAA Division II National Championships and one appearance in the NCAA Final Four Tournament.  Tammy is the current head coach of the University of Maine at Presque Isle Women’s Soccer Team.

The soccer couple resides in Caribou, Maine with their three children, Josiah, Kassie, and Kaylyn.
 


 

Goalie Director: Ton Snip

> DSA’s Goalie Program is headed by Ton Snip of the Netherlands. Ton will join us for his 3rd year at DSA and comes from the Zaanstreek-Waterland region of Holland. Currently, he is working for FC Castricum as a goalie coach and also assists the field coaches. Ton also keeps busy as a personalized goalie instructor and currently looks after 6 goal keepers. Ton also owns a training and consulting company that organizes goalie clinics for soccer schools and clubs in Holland. Additionally, Ton works in the police field where he gives training clinics to officers and organizations in drug related matters.

> Ton's depth of experience and knowledge of the game has made a huge impact at Dutch Soccer Academy. He has an intense coaching style and knows how to prepare his goalies for the physical and mental demands of the goalie position. Students that sign up for the goalie program at DSA will receive very personal and customized instruction. Coach Ton does a great job relating the technical skills he teaches in private sessions to game situations. He is a tremendous mentor to our DSA players and also to our DSA staff where he is highly respected.
 


Junior Division Director: Daniel Williams:

Returning for his fifth season with Dutch Soccer Academy is Daniel Williams from Eastbourne, England. Dan's animated and high-energy approach to teaching the game of soccer has set him apart as one of DSA's all-time favorite coaches. He does an excellent job motivating and encouraging his students. He brings so much life and fun to the field making the DSA camp experience uniquely memorable for our students.

Dan started his playing career at Eastbourne Borough F.C. in the Southern conference where he was the only player in five years to make it to the first team from their youth & reserves. Dan also played for Sussex where he captained the team that captured two consecutive League Championships.



Fientje Timisela

Joining our coaching staff for another year at DSA is accomplished player and coach, Fien Timisela, from the Netherlands. Fien’s most impressive accolade was playing for the Dutch National Women’s Soccer Team. Her playing career was interrupted by a knee injury, but after years of hard rehabilitation work, she was selected once again to play for the National Team of Holland. Fien was also selected to play for the Dutch National futsal (indoor soccer) team.

As a soccer coach, Fien has the prestigious TC3 coaching degree from the KNVB. She began her coaching career by training boys from 14/15 years of age and she eventually coached the women’s team in Castricum. Currently, Fien is the head coach of the KFC Koog aan de Zaan Women’s team where she has build up their program and turned them into the 2nd team in their league.

Our DSA students will greatly benefit from Fien’s knowledge of the game, but also from her passion to teach. She is an inspiration to her colleagues as well as her students. We are honored to have her as a part of our coaching team.


James Smith

Returning for his fourth season with DSA is British coach, James Smith. As a F.A certified instructor, his knowledge of the game and passion to see his students improve make him a perfect fit for our soccer academy. James has coached for CACL soccer school in England since 2002 and has great experience teaching various age divisions. He is an excellent teacher of the game and does a great job connecting with his students both on and off the field. His patient and encouraging style of coaching have made him a DSA favorite amongst our students and we are thrilled to have him on staff again this summer.

Jeroen Haarsma

Jeroen Haarsma of the Netherlands will return for his third year with DSA. He has had the unique experience of playing professional soccer for FC Utrecht and FC Volendam, premiership teams in Holland. Jeroen is currently playing center back for an amateur team after being sidelined by two serious knee surgeries.

Jeroen is currently finishing his master's degree at the lawschool of the University at Amsterdam where he specializes in sports law. He works for an international law firm and is an advisor of soccer agents. Jeroen also keeps busy as a soccer journalist for a local Dutch newspaper where he has written a column about his coaching experience in Maine with DSA.
 



Luuk Collou

Joining us from Holland is Luuk Collou, is graduate of the prestigious CIOS sports school where he majored in swimming and sports massage. He has also earned his coaching certification from the KNVB (Royal Dutch Soccer Association). Luuk has international experience coaching youths of various ages and levels. Additionally, he spent a year studying and playing soccer at the University of New York at Albany, a NCAA Division I school, where he also served as assistant coach. He is currently studying and playing soccer in the Netherlands and is anxious to return to America for a summer of soccer coaching with Dutch Soccer Academy.



Jeroen van Dalen

 

Dutchman, Jeroen van Dalen, is also a graduate of the CIOS School in the Netherlands and has been certified and trained as a soccer instructor by the KNVB.

Jeroen highly enjoys teaching soccer to youth in the United States and has coaching experience in others states such as Colorado, Kentucky, Oregon, and Illinois. His Dutch/ American coaching perspective will add a unique influence to our DSA students this summer. He has coached all different age levels, but specializes in Holland with the high school level players.



Bas Naber

Newly appointed head coach for Jong Holland in the Netherlands, Bas is an accomplished soccer instructor and one of the youngest coaches to ever be named head coach of a team in the highest amateur division. He began his coaching career at 18 years ago when his playing career was ended due to an injury. He began coaching at FC Castricum where he worked with the U16 group that became 3x league champions. Bas also has coaching experience in America with the prestigious Frans Hoek Dutch coaching team.

Bas has earned the KNVB TC2 license and his knowledge and experience will add great depth to our DSA coaching staff. He specializes in the technical aspect of coaching soccer to young players.
